How to Block VPN on Router

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network, and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network. This tutorial will show you how to block VPN on your router.

Introduction

In this article, we will show you how to block VPN on your router. This will prevent anyone from using a VPN to connect to your network.

There are two main ways to block VPN connections:

1. Using a firewall to block traffic from VPN servers
2. Blocking access toVPN websites

If you want to block VPN traffic completely, we recommend using a firewall. This will prevent all traffic from reaching VPN servers, making it impossible to connect to your network.

If you only want to block some VPN traffic, or if you don’t have a firewall, you can use website blocking. This will prevent users from visiting VPN websites, making it more difficult for them to find and connect to your network.

We also recommend using both methods together for maximum security.

What is a VPN?

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a private network that encrypts and transmits data while it travels from one place to another. A VPN client, on the user’s computer or mobile device connects to a VPN gateway on the company’s network. This gateway will typically require the device to authenticate its identity. It will then create a network link back to the device that allows it to reach internal network resources such as file servers, printers and intranets, as if it were on the same local network.

The Benefits of a VPN

There are many benefits of using a VPN, including increased security and privacy, as well as the ability to bypass government censorship and geo-restrictions. A VPN allows you to encrypt your online traffic so that it can not be monitored or intercepted by third parties, such as your ISP or the government. Additionally, a VPN can provide you with a virtual IP address that allows you to access websites and services that are otherwise blocked in your country.

The Risks of a VPN

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a secure tunnel between two or more devices. VPNs are used to protect private web traffic from snooping, interference, and censorship. A VPN encrypts your internet connection and routes it through a server in a location of your choosing. Thisserver changes your IP address, making it seem like you are in a different country or region.

There are many risks associated with using a VPN, especially if you do not choose a reputable provider. These risks include:

-Your data is not encrypted: If your data is not encrypted, it can be intercepted by anyone with the right tools. This includes your ISP, government agencies, and hackers.
-Your data is shared: Many VPN providers will sell your data to third parties or use it for their own marketing purposes.
-You could be tracked: Your ISP can still track your online activity even if you are using a VPN.
-Malware: Some VPN providers will inject malware into your device in order to collect your data.
-Ads: Some VPN providers will serve you ads while you are connected to their servers.

How to Block a VPN on Your Router

If you want to block a Virtual Private Network (VPN) on your router, there are a few different methods that you can use. You can usually block them by their IP address or by their domain name. We’ll show you how to do both.

Step One: Determine Your Router’s IP Address

The first step is to determine your router’s IP address. This is the address that you will use to access the router’s management interface.

To find your router’s IP address, you can do one of the following:

-Check the documentation that came with your router. The IP address is often printed on a label on the back or bottom of the router.
-Run the ipconfig command from a Command Prompt window. This will give you a list of all the network adapters on your computer, including any virtual adapters used by VPN software. The IPv4 Address for your router will be listed next to the Default Gateway entry.
-Use a web-based IP lookup service. One of our favorites is whatsmyip.org, but there are many others available.

Once you have determined your router’s IP address, open a web browser and enter that address into the URL bar. This will take you to the management interface for your router.

Step Two: Log in to Your Router

The process for logging into your router may vary depending on the make and model, but you should be able to find the login information in the router’s documentation. If you can’t find the documentation, you may be able to find the login information online.

Once you’re logged in, look for a menu called “DHCP” or “LAN.” This is where you’ll be able to see all of the devices that are connected to your network. Look for a device with an IP address that starts with 10.8.0.1 — this is likely the VPN server.

If you see more than one device with this IP address, it means that there are multiple users on the VPN at the same time. In this case, you may need to block multiple VPN connections.

Step Three: Find the VPN Settings

Once you’ve logged in, find the VPN settings. On many routers, these will be under “Advanced networking,” “Security,” or something similar. VPNs will usually be listed by name (e.g., “NordVPN”) or as an IP address range (e.g., 103.448.0.0 through 103.448.15.255).

Step Four: Add the VPN to the Blocked List

Now that you are logged in to your router, you can add the IP address of the VPN server to the list of blocked websites. This will prevent anyone using that server from accessing your network.

To do this, go to the “Blocked Sites” or “Website Filtering” section of your router’s settings. Here, you will see a list of sites that are already blocked. Add the IP address of the VPN server to this list.

You may also need to add a rule to block port 1723 if it is not already blocked. Port 1723 is used for PPTP VPN connections.

Once you have added the VPN to the blocked list, save your changes and restart your router. This will ensure that the VPN cannot connect to your network.

Conclusion

If you want to block a VPN connection on your router, the best way to do it is to use a firewall. You can either use a software firewall or a hardware firewall. If you have a router that supports running a software firewall, then that is the best option. If you don’t have a router that supports running a software firewall, then you will need to purchase a hardware firewall.
